Sire - Family Ties (USA)

Family Ties sired a number of top level jumping stars who show similar characteristics - all natural jumpers with calm temperaments.

Sadly for the performance horse breeding community, Family Ties became infertile the year after Troupa Ties was born.

Dam Sire - Sassafras (FR)

Sassafras sensationally upset the great English Triple Crown winner Nijinsky to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe by a rapidly narrowing head in 1970.

Sent to the United States for stud duty, Sassafras died in 1988 and is buried at Pillar Stud in Lexington, Kentucky.

Sassafras, had only 11 starts, but earned an impressive $595,139 (US). Sassafras was also listed on both the leading European sire and broodmare-sire lists throughout much of the 1980s.

Many of the horses in Troupa’s pedigree are German, French and English Thoroughbreds, known for their abilities as sporthorses and particularly 3-day eventers. These bloodlines are hard to find in modern American TB lines.
